CCO is an abbreviation for two different titles. The abbreviation covers both Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Communication Officer. The title of Chief Commercial Officer works in the department of sales and marketing and will therefore have the title of sales and marketing director. Chief Communication Officer works in the communications department and is the communications manager.

However, it is seen in some companies that they use another title abbreviation for their marketing manager: CMO which stands for Chief Marketing Officer.

A CCO is responsible for the company’s communicative strategy and development. CCO enters marketing, sales, production and customer service to ensure the correct communication in the company.

The CCO must ensure that all strategies across the company have a coherence, so that the company can achieve its long-term goals, by evaluating and implementing cross-cutting decisions.
